There's a well known adage: "no one gets fired for choosing _______ ." As a former Microsoft sales exec, I'm sure I benefitted from that. We were the quintessential 800 lb gorilla. Impossible to ignore, and incredibly powerful. But was every lane our best lane? No. I've also been at smaller companies and experienced the other side of the spectrum.
When it comes to technology, this is especially true. Big organizations have their place. If you need a giant project delivered with loads of deliverables or vendors, and millions (or billions) of dollars floated on 90 day terms throughout the process, they are often the only game in town. They will probably cost a fortune, and be slow or inefficient at times, but it's probably necessary.
On the other side of the equation is a far larger amount of projects and decisions that are more streamlined. This is where a different approach sometimes makes sense. If a project or goal is smaller in scope, or needs a best-of-breed technology to provide a competitive edge, you can probably find an expert with more targeted skills, who is personally invested in your success, and will probably deliver exponentially more value.
At SummaCode, we have a network of top experts who are excited and eager to assist you with your projects and goals. In many cases, this may be the right approach for you. We will streamline the procurement and contracting process, and stay closely engaged to ensure the best results.
If you have a project or network, and could use some help, drop us a line and let's see if the expert network-effect can work to your advantage.
